Collections Postmetropolis - Icons

These days “the world….has become, in many of its practical aspects, just one city” (Lewis Mumford, The City in History)…”to take interest in the city, therefore, is a way to dedicate oneself to the mysteries of the world and of our own experience” (Lea Vergine, The City and the Imaginary).
Globalization is changing our world.  Even the “post-industrial metropolis” is changing.  Complex territorial restructuring phenomena, still in the redefining and discovery process, are moving us towards the post-metropolis of the XX1st century.
The images reveal common traits, otherwise hidden.  In far-flung cities common identities and contradictions emerge, as if that which covers the surface of the world becomes non other than a single, indefinable metropolis.
